The Central Department of Nepalese History, Culture and Archaeology, Tribhuvan University is responsible for teaching and making researches in areas of Culture,  Archaeology, Traditional Art and Architecture , Numismatics, Museology, Iconography, Paleography, Epigraphy and Tourism . Currently it offers Masters level program along with Ph.D. Program in collaboration with the Dean’s office. Humanities and Social Science.

Nepal is a home to numerous cultural and ethnic groups. Students and scholars under the Department have an opportunity to explore the history, culture and archaeology of various communities across the country and how these components shape the broader identity of the Nepalese society. Students also participate in cultural projects  and archaeological excavations in different parts of the nation.

Graduates of this Department have been serving the nation in various capacities as civil servants under the Ministry of Culture, Tourism & Civil Aviation,  Department of Archaeology, Museums and multiple  Travel and Tourism sectors. Many others are pursuing careers in academic and other fields abroad.
