This strategic plan is developed on the basis of strength of the department and its faculties. In order to achieve the goals a five year planning and implementation process is designed. The core strategies and plan of actions are listed below:

1. Policy and Procedures

a) Quality of education: Central department has adopted IT based teaching along with field based teaching practice to make it more effective

b) Academic/research collaboration with International organizations and Universities

c) Offer one year PGD course in Archaeology

d) Strengthen the affiliated campuses

2. Curricular Aspect

a) Design courses with the current market demand in mind.

b) Establish PGD course in subjects like Archaeology, Cultural Tourism and Museology.

c) Initiate short term courses for foreign students who wants to learn Nepalese culture.

3. Research and Consultancy

a) Initiate research collaborations with national and international universities.

b) Initiate faculty and students exchange programs.

c) Initiate collaboration with religious institutes to organize one international seminar on Ascetics.

4. Infrastructure and learning resources

a) Make one research management cell with full facility of resource materials and internet.

b) Upgrade the present library with the addition of more books.

c) Increase the subscription of national as well as international journals.

d) Upgrade the archaeological lab

e) Upgrade and maintain the small garden built in the memory of two former head of the department.

f) Add the blocks for extra classrooms and rest room.

5. Students support

a) Create better opportunities for graduate students.

b) Involve current students in any Archaeology/ Museum based field work.

c) Recommend students for their further research program to any national or international institutes/universities

6. Information/Technology

a) Provide computer facilities to all the faculty members as well as non teaching staffs.

b) Arrange workshop to enhance the computer based skills of the faculty members.

c) Create an e library of the department.

d) Add e boards in the class rooms.

e) Regularly update the website with the addition of research publications and research reports.
